Companion: Personal Safety App Reviews

I love this app and all of its features, but none of the buttons elements are labelled for voiceover excess ability. As a result, blind users, like myself, are unable to deactivate or prevent the automated alarm. Otherwise, its perfect!

app doesnt update my location to the link phone had data i know through other apps but it didnt update companion web link

It has all the right features, and I have used it on multiple occasions. The alert mode is great, and I have actually used it to save my life. A must have for anyone waking around Kate at night.

The app wont let me follow my friends when they add me as a companion. Please fix!

This app is a complete necessity! Everyone should download this app, no matter their age. Walking alone is always a scary thought, and Companion allows its users to walk alone with no worries or fear - Companion users always know there is someone watching them walking home in order to make sure they arrive at their destination safely. I 100% encourage everyone to download this app! Share it with your parents, your children, and your friends!

My friend introduced me to companion because she wanted me to be her buddy, and she told me how much safer she felt knowing I was keeping watch. One night, I decided to use it on a 4 block walk in downtown Los Angeles. My friend messaged me, "I dont see you." Turns out that the app told her I got to the destination already when in fact I had just left my car. I got to my destination safely thankfully, but that is a very dangerous bug. This app is a great idea, but until it is fixed, I think it is more dangerous because it gives a false sense of security.

I use it every night that I come home late and it works like a dream

It says that you can save where an unsafe area is, but I dont see any on my map (at least I dont think so). Other users should be able to see where these areas are, and they should be clearly marked.

Great idea! Hope bugs get worked out but one should not rely on just one app for safety. The first defense is always self defense. There needs to be an Apple Watch version too. It would work great on that!

Ive used this app for close to a year now and honestly, I cant imagine myself not using it in the future. I use the app often. Whether Im running alone on a trail or even going across the street to a 7-11. I dont feel nagged by Companion notifications, and Ive successfully had a dozen of my friends download it themselves. A great app. Definitely recommend!

I love it so far. Great for when youre walking home alone or going somewhere different than usual.

I recommend anyone with unreliable means of transportation to download this app. Its a great way to update my friends and family about my trip home. The destination functions are simple and straightforward, the added features (I am nervous and Call Police button, am I ok? Update) are genius, and the final text update upon my arrival home is the cherry on top. You wont be bombarded with notifications at all and the fact that it allows me to be more aware of my surroundings of letting my love ones themselves check the status of my route home rather then I constantly texting/calling on my phone makes it a great app.

Thank you so much for the adding the option to select other transportation modes. As a single woman in a large city, walking isnt always a smart and safe option, but Id still like to have a companion along for the ride. The update give me a more accurate estimate of how long it will take me to get home. I also like to wander option. Sometime you dont have a destination and its great to have a way to feel safe and not alone. You have come up with a wonderful app that just keep improving! Thank you so much!!

I feel like since this app is suppose to help someone in need y doesnt it work without wifi or any form of Internet connection

I really like this app because even if Im walking alone I dont feel that way. I use it often. But would there be a way to add a loop feature? I also use it when I walk my dog but its not really designed to loop back around to your starting position. Either way though, great app. I like how my "companions" dont need the app installed for it to work.

Took a star away because my watchful companions have to load the app for me to use them as my contacts. Great app! My "Watchers" love the realtime GPS tracking. I am usually alone when I travel, so this makes me feel safer!

Just wish I could easily add people to become my companions after Im already in the app. Needs to be in settings

The app is great, the only feature I think should be added is the ability to remove companions. When I downloaded the app I didnt realize I would be sending notifications to all of my friends. Its annoying to me and extremely annoying to my friends.

This app is amazing it moves with you and its super accurate. This helps anyone who is worried about you while youre outside in scary NYC lol.
