Problem after update

My phone is not notified when companion request is sent to me (from an iPhone 4s). However when I (iPhone 5s) send one, it is sent and received. I dont receive any messages, even "I feel nervous" messages. However, they can open up a text conversation with me. Did not test the "call police" button for obvious reasons.
